Denim, dressed up
Who said denim can’t be smart? Meet the pieces redefining the modern wardrobe’s most-loved – and hardest-working – fabric. This season, denim is (even) more desirable…
Since the first pair of jeans was designed in the early 19th century, denim has become a true wardrobe workhorse. It’s long-lasting, easy-wearing and has the power to bring a relaxed feel like no other. COS has long focused on designing denim with less of an impact on the planet, with 100% organic or recycled cotton styles. Now, they’re rethinking the role it plays in the modern wardrobe, combining the comfort we all love with tailored silhouettes and elevated finishes that are ready to take centre stage. A new era of denim has arrived – and here are the pieces to know now.
01. THE SUIT
Denim in its most elevated state comes in the form of a deep, raw finish; it’s the denim equivalent of classic black or navy. Neat lapels, flap pockets and smart pressed creases… this two-piece suit brings a whole new meaning to double denim.
02. THE BUSTIER
The bustier is back and about to become the wardrobe hero you never knew you needed. Taking cues from 1990s minimal dressing, it has narrow straps and elasticated details for added comfort. Style under a blazer or with an A-line skirt for a look that’s as effortless as it is elegant.
03. THE MINI DRESS
If there’s one piece to signal that spring is on the way, it’s the mini dress. Using a blend of organic cotton and TENCEL™ Lyocell with a modern asymmetric cut, our new-season design will dress up the everyday with ease.
04. THE TRENCH COAT
Like the classic design, but with a twist, COS’ denim trench features a double-breasted fastening, a belted waist and box pleating at the back to add volume without heavy bulk.
05. THE A-LINE SKIRT
The timeless silhouette of an A-line skirt is an easy – and endlessly versatile – alternative to the party dress. When teamed with a matching bustier, it makes for a 1970s-inspired look with a 2023 twist.
