Cashmere is something of a speciality at COS – season after season, our design team revisits signature silhouettes in soft, quality yarns, tweaking them to perfection to ensure every piece is made to last. The cashmere collection is designed to transcend trends; classic shapes and considered details prevail throughout, making each garment a true investment piece.

Comfort and ease are also key in the edit: the fit of each design is meticulously studied to allow for easy layering, while the garment’s weight, length and sleeve width are equally assessed to promise long-lasting quality and style. Our collection features cashmere sourced through the Good Cashmere Standard®, which is owned by Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) and sets out requirements on welfare of cashmere goats, use of natural resources and support of farmers.

THE CREW-NECK CASHMERE JUMPER 

A true perennial you’ll to turn to again and again, the crew-neck jumper is an essential piece of the modern wardrobe. Emphasising simplicity over complicated construction, our signature version has a relaxed fit for everyday comfort and is finished with neatly ribbed trims to complement – rather than reconstruct – everyday outfits.  

The classic design is reintroduced for the new season in a range of considered tones, from nuanced neutrals to a versatile shade of grey, while the year-round weight offers endless style potential. 

THE TURTLENECK CASHMERE JUMPER 

The chunky turtleneck cashmere jumper is an autumn wardrobe cornerstone. Revisited each season, this COS icon stands out because of its thoughtful details – note the rounded sleeves that cocoon the body and the extended ribbed trims that help to maintain its shape. It has a luxuriously weighty hand feel and a relaxed silhouette that allows for easy layering. 

The Fall collection reintroduces the hero piece in new palette: a saturated red for a powerful shot of colour; or at the other end of the spectrum, a subdued dusty beige – a subtle hue achieved without dye. Our undyed cashmere pieces have been crafted without the use of bleach, whitening or dye chemicals to have a natural colouration.   

THE V-NECK CASHMERE CARDIGAN 

The resurgence of the cardigan has cemented it as a key layering piece for autumn – it can be styled over a clean white T-shirt, shrugged on over a simple ribbed tank top or buttoned up on its own to render it evening appropriate. This season’s latest iteration is designed with a deep V neck to highlight the décolletage or a frame a contrasting underlayer. Its coordinating buttons keep the overall look polished.  

THE ART OF CASHMERE  

Cashmere is sourced from the goats of the Mongolian Plateau, which have two layers of insulating fleece. The softer layer is combed and gathered in the warmer season and has been spun into yarn for centuries. Warm and cosy, this tactile yarn has an unmistakable softness and a light, springy feel due to the uniquely wavy shape of its fine strands. 

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BUYING CASHMERE? 

The benefits of cashmere make it an obvious choice for autumn and winter wardrobes – it feels ultra-soft, luxurious and warm during the colder months – but lighter, fine cashmere knitwear can be worn year-round, making it a truly versatile foundation for any season. 

HOW TO CARE FOR CASHMERE 

The COS team considers cashmere an object of permanence: when properly cared for, it will last beyond many seasons thanks to its enduring quality and timeless sensibility.  

HOW TO WASH AND CARE FOR CASHMERE:

Cashmere doesn’t need to be washed every time you wear it, just a few times per season is ideal. Instead, air out your cashmere between wears – it’s better for retaining the quality of clothes.  

When you do wash cashmere, handwash or use a specialist detergent on a gentle machine cycle at 30°C or lower. You should also use a low spin setting, as this will help prevent pilling and save energy. 

During the warmer months when you’re less likely to wear your cashmere pieces often, store them folded in drawers – hanging can alter the shape – and make sure you use mothballs. Pilling occurs naturally and can be easily removed with a pilling comb or a fabric shaver.
