Cool tones and loose fits bolster suiting for outdoor gatherings and weddings of summer.

Warmer weather both at home and away brings with it the promise of events season. From summer weddings to outdoor gatherings, the importance of a suit during this period can’t be understated, nor can the need for comfort. Thankfully, the COS occasionwear edit does both. Read on to discover the latest blazers, shirts and tailored trousers to help you stay smart in the sun.

As temperatures rise, it’s wise to incorporate more unstructured blazers and loose-fitting trousers into your rotation. Roomy cuts around the thighs and hem provide plenty of movement, while minimal linings and unbuilt shoulders create a light feel and relaxed shape up top.

Thanks to its lightweight fabrication and inherent ease, linen is another firm wardrobe favourite for the warmer months – and a fixture throughout the COS men’s tailoring collection. It’s a material made for outdoor gatherings and destination weddings, bringing the perfect amount of informality. For Summer 2024, the COS menswear team also experimented with the addition of recycled linen, which is made from yarn-spinning waste or fabric-cutting waste from the production process.

A simple hack for looking good throughout events season is to introduce subtle embellishment to your outfit. Not only does it lend an assured mood to your style, but it serves as a unique conversation starter, too. This season, floral embroidery is inspired by Japanese woodblock techniques – an intricate detail which immediately elevates more classically tailored styles.

For the ultimate balance of smart and casual, look no further than the polo shirt. This season’s key style comes in silk, taking the sporty classic to the next level, especially when styled with a blazer.

A cool-toned palette is often preferable during summer, softly balancing the warmer tones of the season. Dusty blues refresh the collection and more established shades like khaki and navy round off a palette that’s easy to style with all manner of ready-to-wear pieces, from a linen shirt or T-shirt to summer accessories.
