COS BUILDINGS
Rue Des Rosiers, Paris

In the heart of Paris’ 4th arrondissement, among the cobbled streets and green courtyards of the Marais, a building was constructed in 1856. Seven years later, it began 130 years of life as a traditional Turkish bathhouse. Finally, in 2009, it became home to COS.

Original stonework still bears inscriptions for the sauna and swimming pool, below carved lion heads on the façade – a popular motif of the time. On the ground floor, the painted ‘Hammam Saint-Paul’ signage has been carefully conserved in its original, striking colours.

In contrast to the pale pink shade of the exterior, the interior is now muted and modern, filled with light. A calm, understated space.
