Jeans for men: a guide

The key COS jeans fits, explained.

Versatile and hard-wearing, denim has long been the fail-safe option for everyday wear. No longer just casual, its appeal extends beyond the classic jeans and a T-shirt but is now often considered a key ingredient to sophisticated outfits too.

The COS denim collection spans both smart and casual, from straight cuts to directional wide-leg fits – the key shape of the moment. No matter which style you choose, the COS collection is built on a foundation of quality cotton, considered washes and exceptional craftsmanship.

Read on to discover the various types of jeans in the new collection and how to style them.

REGULAR JEANS

Our regular-fit jeans are a trademark COS style. Classic and versatile, the cut fits neatly through the leg for slight definition and room to move, loosening slightly towards the ankle. The Signature jeans come in a number of colourways from raw indigo to crisp white and feature a five-pocket design and hardware engraved with the COS logo.

The simplest way to style men’s regular jeans is with a crew-neck T-shirt – or try a matching denim shirt for a more directional look.

RELAXED JEANS

The Dome jeans are one of the more relaxed shapes in the denim collection, encapsulating a laid-back spirit. They come in three key colours this season: blue, washed black and ecru. The loose-fitting feel around the thigh gives the perfect casual silhouette, while the slightly exaggerated shape brings a modern approach. They’re made with a blend of organic and recycled cotton.

A short-sleeved shirt counteracts the looseness of the jeans, while a chunkier knit complements the wider shape.

WIDE JEANS

Our most relaxed shape, the wide-cut Rider jeans embrace a contemporary approach to design. Loose-fitting from the thigh to the hem, it’s the roomiest style in the collection. They are crafted in 12.5oz organic and recycled cotton to bring added structure and designed with subtly branded hardware and topstitching.

The wide cut is a slightly more directional shape than the others, which allows for a lot of freedom in terms of styling. Layered looks with a shirt and leather jacket work particularly well.

DENIM CARE

Learn more.

COS denim is made to last, and you can take easy steps to make your jeans last even longer. Denim is naturally sturdy and there’s no need to wash frequently.

Between washes, you can spot clean surface dirt with a damp cloth. To wash denim, a gentle machine wash at 30°C or lower is ideal. There are also specialist detergents available. Wash denim inside out to stop the colour fading, and hang it out to dry, as heat from a tumble dryer could cause shrinkage. The weight of the denim will help to pull out any creases. Avoid using an iron as heat can weaken the fibres.

Remember to avoid storing your jeans in direct sunlight to prevent colour changes. Instead of washing, air them outside on a cold dry night or hang them in your bathroom whilst taking a shower so they absorb some moisture, and then air them out. This will ensure lasting freshness.
